About Glen Smith

Glen is a single dad who is actively involved in water polo (he recently played in the SA Masters Water Polo Tournament), surfing and is also a pilot.

He graduated from Rand Afrikaans University (Criminal Justice & Forensic Investigations) and has diplomas in HR and Risk Management.  Glen spent 15 years in the SAPS, during which time 5 years was spent as a forensic crime scene technician (attending approximately 3000 autopsies), and 10 years was spent in the Child Protection Unit as a specialist investigator on crimes against children.

In 1994 Glen was instrumental in starting the first rape unit in KZN, and ran his own forensic investigation business for 7 years before joining ADT.  He has been at ADT for 15 months, starting out in the Western Cape as the community security manager before transferring back to KZN in November 2008.

The Open Door Crisis Centre is KZNWIB chosen charity for 2009. Here are their top ten wish list items - if you are able to bring any of these items to the meeting it would be greatly appreciated.

1. Reams of office paper
2. General stationery consisting of: pens, pencils, erasers, prestic, rulers, scissors, tippex, whiteboard markers, staplers and staples
3. Lever arch files
4. Flipchart paper and markers
5. Hand towel paper rolls and hand soap
6. Tea, coffee, sugar
7. Peanut butter to be distributed to theirHIV/AIDS beneficiaries for rich protein
8. Eggs to be distributed to their HIV/AIDS beneficiaries for rich protein
9. Toiletries for female beneficiaries in shelter (toilet rolls, toothpaste, toothbrush, face cloths, female bathing products, dettol, sanitary towels)
10. Toiletries for baby and children in shelter (toothpaste, toothbrush, face cloths, child bathing products, baby formula, nappies, babygrows)
