Please visit www.goodwill.org.za for further information or contact Darlene Menzies on 031 201 3788 / 083 25 83748 or info@goodwill.org.zaGoodwill Industries is a registered section 21 company (Reg. No. 2007/004501/08) and was established in March 2006. They are also a registered Public Benefit Organisation (Reg No. 930024989).
The purpose of the organisation is to support and assist unemployed people in Durban (in particular the labourers who congregate in Old Fort Road who wait each day to be hired). Their desire is to see dignity restored to these men and women through employment. Their activities include serving a meal to 80-100 unemployed men and women in the city once a week; sharing the gospel with them and spending time encouraging and praying for those who are discouraged.

They have developed a customized information form to collect information from unemployed or under employed men and women, which is used to help link them with gainful employment. We have a Zulu interpreter who gathers the information regarding each person’s skills and experience. The form contains data such as contact information, prior learning and experience details, their skills and reference information. We have also developed a database that electronically stores all the information captured from the paper forms. This information helps us to link an unemployed worker with an employment opportunity that we are made aware of in the city.
